The Office of the Vice President has made public the letter which Vice President Yemi Osinbajo wrote to the  Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) Anti-corruption Defender Award of 2019. The letter which was released by Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande revealed that the vice-president said it would be insensitive for him to attend the award ceremony in the light of the travails of Omoyele Sowore. A senior pastor of the Latter Rain Assembly, Tunde Bakare has said Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will overcome his present travails in office. He said Osinbajo will have “the last laugh.” The Vice President recently denied claims made by a former APC official, Timi Frank, that the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) provided N90billion as campaign funds for Mr Osinbajo during the 2019 elections. Bakare backed the Vice President, saying he found the allegation difficult to believe. “Vice President Osinbajo will have the last laugh. You think I am stupid? Towards checking xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa, President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Minister of Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama, on Wednesday met at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. They met at the President’s office on quick possible steps to halt the killings and destruction of properties of Nigerians. President Buhari had already deployed special envoy to South Africa towards ending the attacks. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Monday met with some ministers and federal government lawyers ostensibly to assess the options opened to the government over the $9.6 billion awarded by a United Kingdom court to P&IB for breach of contract. The government is looking for ways to avoid paying the money which it believes the economy cannot accommodate. At the meeting were the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami; Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Festus Keyamo, among others.
