PDP Wins Akwa Ibom Rerun Elections

After the rerun elections in Essien Udim Council Area of Akwa Ibom State conducted on Saturday, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has won all the three seats of Senatorial, Federal House of Representatives and State House of Assembly. The final results released and signed by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mike Igini, showed that the People’s Democratic party Senatorial candidate Christopher Ekpenyong defeated Senator Godswill Akpabio of the All Progressives Congress having scored 134,717 as against 83,820 votes. After the rerun election on Saturday in Okigwe North Federal Constituency of Imo State,  Princess Miriam Onuoha of All Progressives Congress (APC) has defeated her closet opponent Mr. Obinna Onwubualiri of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Frank Collins of Nnamdi Azikwe University, who announced the result said Ms Miriam Onuoha scored 23, 690 votes, to defeat Mr. Obinna Onwubualiri of PDP who scored 10, 010 votes, while Mr Uchenna Ubah of APGA came 3rd with 263 votes. The Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) collation centre for the supplementary election in Orlu/Orsu/Oru West Federal Constituency of Imo State has been invaded by some political thugs, and destroyed the result sheets. This has cause panic at the collection centre. The political thugs beat the intelligence of the security men at the entrance of the collation centre and made their way straight to the podium where the exercise was going on and disrupted the process. Apart from tearing the result sheets into shreds, the political thugs, who did not reveal the identity of the political party they were working for, alleged that the process had been compromised.
